Once upon a time dianedmcn37 shaped the electrons to say... > Current Hughes w/TiVo and have a dual satelite and can recorder > 2shows at once and watch whats on the now playing list. Saw the > Humax DVR/DVD and thinking of getting it. > ?Can my current system be set up in another room and set the Humax in > livingroom?--Can 2 tivo systems work in same home? > If so ? will another satelite be needed? > ?will it recorder 2 shows in each room?--or whats on one will be on > the other?
The Humax is a standalone TiVo, it can only record one show at a time. Also, you cannot connect it directly to DirecTV. What you'd need is a standalone DirecTV receiver. You'd have to have the lines from the dish run into a multiswitch. Then two drops from the multiswitch would connect to your existing DirecTiVo. A third drop would connect to the new receiver. That receiver would be connected to the Humax by A/V cables, and the Humax would control the receiver with either a serial or Home Control cable. The new receiver would be independent of the old one - so you could watch/record three channels at once - 2 on your existing unit, 1 on the new one. -MZ, RHCE #806199299900541, ex-CISSP #3762 -- <URL:mailto:megazoneatmegazone.org> Gweep, Discordian, Author, Engineer, me.
