Yes, there is an option - you have to go to the season pass, choose change recording options and then make sure Show Type is set to "first run only." Of course some shows don't code their programs properly, which makes this useless. I'm not sure if Law and Order is one that doesn't code for this, but I know that Comedy Central is notorious for not distinguishing between first run and reruns...
