Another thing to keep in mind is that when shows run on a different
network they sometimes are listed again as being new, i.e. Law and Order
reruns on TNTHD have been listed as new even though they were reruns from
episodes that had previously aired on NBC. I don't know if this is still
the case but it was before but went back to a season pass instead of a
wishlist for Law and Order as it was taking up so much space with shows we
had already seen....
As for Comedy Central, I used to think that it was them but its got to
be the TiVo service because I added an HD DVR from my cable company and have
Jon Stewart set up to record only new episodes and it works fine on the
cable DVR but worked horribly in the past on my TiVo, not sure where to go
with an issue like that, as its whole seasons that are messed up and not
just one episode...

Yes, there is an option - you have to go to the season pass, choose change
recording options and then make sure Show Type is set to "first run only."
Of course some shows don't code their programs properly, which makes this
useless. I'm not sure if Law and Order is one that doesn't code for this,
but I know that Comedy Central is notorious for not distinguishing between
first run and reruns...
