People with Tivo Boxes and Humax boxes - what has been your experience with
moving between Wish List entries?

I have a serious problem with long time that it takes my Humax Tivo DVD
burner move between screens in Tivo Central.

I have several Wish Lists - movies e.g. I click on the wish list for the
category (it takes 30-50 seconds to come up with the list of the movies -
150-190 normally) I then select a movie and go into "View upcoming shows",
chose the one I want, schedule it and then go back to the movie - this takes
45-90 seconds. I then go back to the Wish List and it can also take 45-90
seconds.

Often times when I am back into the Wish list the remote is not placed on
the movie that I have just scheduled but throws me either up or down the
Wish List 2-3 screens and I have to go and search for the last movie I've
gone into.

I called Humax first, they told me they are aware of a remote control
problem that lags behind several seconds - I've seen this on my Dish when I
watch Live TV, the channel blinks when you click up or down or type in the
channel, nothing happens for a second or so and then in 1-2 seconds the
channel switches. I did not pay too much attention to it as they told me
what I am describing is Tivo software problem.

Called Tivo and they told me that Humax harddrives have a record of slow
responses just like what I have described to them.

Called Humax again and they went on a defensive that this is not Humax
problem and went into the remote control spiel with me that they are working
with Tivo on it to resolve it - same thing that I heard from them before.

When I told them that the screen in Tivo central hangs up with "Please Wait"
for like 40-90 seconds I think it finally caught up with the lady. She
recommended reprogramming the remote, did not work and now sending me a new
remote.

However, I had a feeling she would not admit that it's the hard drive
problem and accessing the large amount of data and multiple schedules that
Tivo downloads. I think it is because before I only had antenna and 8
channels and very few options for each show on regular local TV, now I have
satellite and there are like 60 channels with multiple time slots for each
show and Tivo downloads programming for more channels and the processor and
hard drive are having hard time accessing it.

I have deleted some channels I don't watch from the channel line up, so this
is going to be easier on the download and space required but still the
problem persist.

Is this something that only my Humax Box has or it's something known? This
is kind of crazy as it takes a very long time to program what I want to
watch. I'd expect 1-3 seconds delay with the remote, no problem, but this is
something too long? To go though the Wish List sometimes takes 20-30 min.

Any suggestions besides replacing it? - it's only 4 months old.

Sincerely,

IGGY
