I'm helping a friend who is a dorm parent at a private university. The
network in the dorm area is tightly lock down (MAC address must be
registered and each registered MAC address has an assigned IP address,
but it still uses DHCP to get the IP assigned by the server).
His TiVo has been registered and gets its IP address from DHCP, but it
still will not connect to the TiVo service for program updates. When we
test the connection, the test succeeds, but every attempt to connect to
the TiVo service fails.
On the other hand he does get TiVo messages, such as line up changes.
Are there some specific ports that we need to open up so the TiVo can
connect to the service?
