Once upon a time Cliff shaped the electrons to say... > DirectTV says they don't have systems that will do the networking part
This is correct. DirecTV has deliberately blocked all of the networking features from their combo boxes. On top of that, they're dropping TiVo going forward in favor of the 'in-house' R15 DVR Plus box that uses software from NDS. And it sucks. > Are there still combo boxes that handle DirectTV + TiVo, or do I have > to buy a separate TiVo Series2 unit and get a DirectTV receiver? Do You can still get the DirecTiVo boxes - the R10 and earlier - but stocks are running out. WeaKnees.com still has some, as to other outlets. But you need a hacked box if you want networking. The alternative is to get a standalone Series2 which has all the networking features. > these work together well, now that the companies have split up? I have > a limited amount of space and I would prefer to have one unit. They still work together just fine. -MZ -- <URL:mailto:megazoneatmegazone.org> Gweep, Discordian, Author, Engineer, me.
