Hello, I am not getting a straight answer from either TiVo or
DirectTV, so I was hoping someone here had a similiar situation and
could offer some assistance.

I currently have an old Philips DirectTV/TiVo system which is having
problems. I would like to get a Series2 TiVo to replace this old unit
and be able to connect the Series2 into my home network. I would like
to be able to take advantage of the Home Media features, but I would
also like to be able to share programs I've recorded.

DirectTV says they don't have systems that will do the networking part
of it. TiVo tells me I have to go through DirectTV for assistance.
Are there still combo boxes that handle DirectTV + TiVo, or do I have
to buy a separate TiVo Series2 unit and get a DirectTV receiver? Do
these work together well, now that the companies have split up? I have
a limited amount of space and I would prefer to have one unit.

TIA.

Cliff
