Sling is indeed wired ethernet only. Most of the wireless vendors make what
they normally
market as "gaming" adaptors since most of the game consoles (playstation, Xbox)
are
wired-ethernet only. You might be able to find one with more than one wired
ethernet
port and use 1 port for the slingbox, and a second, with a WIRED Tivo-compatible
ethernet adaptor to connect them both up -- more cost, but less chance for a
conflict.
The slngbox is 1 viewer at a time. It just encodes and sends whatever signals
are fed to
it so to watch something on Tivo you "play" it just like you do locally - the
TV would show
the same program.
Sling has more than one set of inputs, and you can use them for different
devices. You'd
have to put one on the RF inputs, and the second on the A/V inputs.
Sling duplicats all functionality of the Tivo remote, so yes, you have full
control over
it. You do need the client software installed though so it's not as "portable"
as being
able to pull up a web browser at some random site and schedule somthing, but
you can delete
and otherwise fully manage the tivo (or whatever device you connect to it). I
had
this setup for a short time before I had the TV and such set up in the bedroom
- the 2nd
Tivo just sat in the basement with no "head" other than the slingbox -- viewing
was generally
done via MRV from the other Tivo though.
BTW, if you do a lot of MRV or TivoToGo, running ethernet cable will generally
get you
better performance over the wireless connection.
