Well - no.
There is the technique you've found, going into the To Do List, or the
SP for the show, and pruning the extra recordings ahead of time.
That's what I do with some of my shows.
The other option is to use a time based recording instead of the SP,
and tell it to record by day and time. But that loses TiVo's
flexibility.
Otherwise if it is "The Tonight Show" in both the original airing and
the repeat, there is no good way to do it automatically. If it were a
different title - like "The Tonight Show" when new and "NBC All Night"
when re-run, then an Auto-Record Title Wish List might do it.
