If you're always going to be watching via the TiVo, why would you need
a tuner in the TV? It adds absolutely nothing unless you ever plan to
watch 'Live' TV via the TV directly, using the internal tuner.

Now, personally, my selection of HDTV was based on the overall quality
and features, and the set I selected has an OTA tuner, and I think it
may do clear QAM, but I don't use it. I have it setup to use analog
cable natively, for when my folks visit and my TiVo is recording
something. (My dad likes to just poke around channels.) Personally I
never use it, 100% of my viewing is via TiVo.

As for what kind of set you should get - I'd focus more of the size
you want/need for your space, contrast ratio, black levels, color
reproduction, resolution (1080p or 720p display?), and inputs - you
want HDMI, really.

I bought the Samsung HL-S6187W 61" 1080p DLP set.
