That is exactly what I have, so I will see what I can do to help you, and if I'm wrong, I'm sure that someone will point it out later. > Typically, I just plug the TV into the cable outlet and use the > TV's channel selector to get the basic cable channels. That is essentially what I did, before I got TiVo. (snip) > The Tivo menu does show up on channel 3 on my TV... There is a tuner in the Series 2 TiVo box. Theoretically, you leave the television set on channel 3 from now on, and you change the channels on the TiVo box with the TiVo remote. You should be "all set." > Second, how do I "watch live TV" with Tivo coming in on the > TV's channel 3? It's not actually "live" TV. It's "five-second delay" TV. You tell the TiVo box what channel you want to watch, TiVo records that channel at "best" quality, and plays it back into your television set, on channel 3, a few seconds later. So it's "almost" live TV. > While I am a little technically oriented, I can't figure out > how the setup diagram on the link above would work. I started out knowing nothing, and I have learned a little over the past year. You're used to the cable box changing the channels for you, but now, the tuner inside the TiVo does that work for you. There was a thread recently on using "standby" to watch real live TV on the television set while the TiVo is recording something else. Once you get comfortable with what I typed above, you might want to go over that "standby" thing and see if it makes sense. But so far, I've never needed it. > Thanks for any light you can shed on this... I hope this has been helpful. Please feel free to contact me or post again if you need anything clarified. And good luck in your new home.
