I am new to this group, but not to Tivo. I have had a Phillips PTV300 for maybe five years now, and I love it. But in the past several weeks I have had a curious problem with the remote; it eats batteries. At first I thought I was imagining things, or that the batteries I was using were no good, but last week I replaced the batteries for about the fourth time this year and I made sure I had fresh quality batteries on hand. This afternoon it went dead on me again. The only thing that makes sense is that the batteries are being slowly drained in the remote. Does anyone have any experience with this, or a suggestion for a fix? Is it possible to get new remotes for older Tivo models, or are there some decent universal remotes that will work?
