Yes, and crawling across a tile (or slate) roof is probably beyond their
normal install routine. The roofing material can be fragile and they don't
want to take the risk of damaging it (or the cost of replacing it).

I'm puzzled, is there no flat spot on the side of a wall that has clear
enough visibility? There are ways to handle installing a post on the side
of the house.

Not "suddenly", as it's common knowledge that the DirecTV units will work
with DirecTV service ONLY.

One would have to guess Tivo's interested in keeping customers happy.
Letting a few 'slip by' seems like a reasonable way to do it. Tangentally
I'd wonder how many DirecTV lifetimes ever got sold?

I always use an RF universal remote (MX-3000) so I never care about the Tivo
unit.

Is it "expand" the total capacity, including the internal drive, or
"replace" where the external becomes the only drive? I can't recall,
someone's DVR was crippled that way...
