My Sony S1 is about to do the same. I understand that the older units (S1)
will still function as a basic time/channel type digital recorder, but some
of the later boxes become doorstops once the subscription is expired. If
nothing else, it seems it should be good for basic time shifting (pausing
live TV), and perhaps hitting record will allow you to record a show old
skool, but your now playing list will only show record dates I suspect, if
it even allows you to record.

The only thing I can think of is one last hurrah... that is have it full up
the disk with movies or something, and you'll have a cache of movies to
watch from it.

Subject: [TiVo Central] This Old TiVo

Used TiVos don't fetch much on eBay unless they've got a lifetime
subscription. I have an 80-hour Humax TiVo (no DVD-recorder) that I may not
be using much longer. Any suggestions for what to do with it, either for fun
or profit?
