That's my experience as well.  I was having troubles with a specific movie,
audio had gaps, and the video ran slow.  It played this way on the Tivo, but
worked fine on my BD player, and on two different computers.  It remembered
where I left off, very handy.  I was even watching over a 3G USB air card on
the computer, it adjusts quality to match your available bandwidth.  They say
3mb service or better is recommended.

As for the network, Premier doesn't have phone, it has to be network I hear.
HD box has a phone line, but network will give you proper functionality.
There's no reason for a phone line if you have network, and every attempt
should be made to give it network access.  Without network access, stuff like
Netflix, Amazon, PC to Tivo transfers, Video On Demand won't work, you may as
well own a couple of Series 1 boxes.

I installed a 4 port wireless network bridge, it gives me 4 ethernet ports to
plug stuff into (Tivo, BD player, TV in my case) and it makes the wireless
connection to the router.  The advantage of this is I don't need separate wifi
adapters for each device (at a premium cost in most cases) since the network
bridge cost only $99 and is set up once, it's easier in the future to add an
additional device, like a game console.  I was also able to get a 5GHz N band
router for a faster connection than the G adapaters would have offered, and
since most adpaters seem to run $75 or so, after I avoid one adapter,
I'm ahead.  I even found that when I left the Tivo wireless adpater plugged in,
when I lost connectivity on the network bridge, it reverted to the wireless
adapter on it's own, pretty slick.
