Usually .qmail-dude-default is a symlink to .qmail-dude. So in /home/vpopmail/domains/baffler.net/ you would have a .qmail-dude file and a symlink to .qmail-dude called .qmail-dude-default. Note that these files are *not* in /home/vpopmail/domains/baffler.net/dude/. They are in the domain directory. You really want to remove any .qmail files in .../baffler.net/ and run the vadduser-tmda script. That will create the correct .qmail files in the domain directory and those files will have the correct instructions to make TMDA work with vpopmail.
