Hi all, I've had the misfortune sometime during the last week or two, of having one of my email addresses hijacked by a spammer. This is the second time in a year it's happened to me, and it means that my inbox on that account has gone loopy.
I've downloaded something like 10K messages over the past few days, most of them bounces since presumably a lot of the addresses used by the spammer didn't exist, and so are bounced - but unfortunately they're being bounced to me :( One or two are from the poor unfortunates who've had the spam delivered to them, and are complaining to me in the mistaken belief that it was me that sent them the offensive crud that's arrived in their inbox. The load seems to have broken something in TMDA. As of this afternoon, my TMDA machine seemed to all but lock up with about 20 concurrent python processes. On investigation, it seemed TMDA could no longer add things into the pending queue. The debug log didn't have any TMDA specific issues in it (and I didn't save it). The tmda-pending queue wouldn't work any more, and TMDA-CGI was equally unable to view the content of the pending queue. I tried pruning the pending directory (and responses) manually with a blanket "rm -f *" only to be told "rm: too many arguments", so I had to pop up a directory and "rm -rf pending". Once pending and responses had been recreated, I let qmail go again, and all was well... Now, my question is this : What limit did I hit ? I'm using reiserfs as the file system for the drive - I hadn't run out of physical space. Is 10K files in a directory too much ? Or is the problem with python (unlikely I'm thinking since "rm" barfed on the directory too). Anyone else had anything similar ? Muchas gracias in advance for any advice / help... BTW - TMDA 0.77 and TMDA-CGI 0.04. Bryan Childs _____________________________________________ tmda-users mailing list ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) http://tmda.net/lists/listinfo/tmda-users
