I have been testing with tmda-check-senders (add-on tool) and have an idea (good? bad? i donno)
The check-sender basically can be used to drop mail where the sender can be verifyed to be Invalid. I was purging my pending queue of BAD senders and out of 700 messages I was able to remove 100 messages. What was interesting was the fact that about 50% reported 'SMTP connection failed' and it got me thinking.. Right now TMDA will send a confirmation request and for those hosts that have no SMTP connection I will end up getting a Failure Report from my MTA after a few days of attempting to deliver that message. (And even if the Failure Message is not generated the MTA *has* been trying) ------------------- The idea ------------------- If we could check the 'sender-status' before requesting a confirmation we could, if it fails, give the message a new status in the pending queue and later (at random times like purge) attempt to deliver confirmation requests IF the 'sender-status' ever is good You may want to limit the number of messages it attempts at a time. thoughts? tom _____________________________________________ tmda-users mailing list ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) http://tmda.net/lists/listinfo/tmda-users
