I'd like to join in and thank the team as well 8].

What I'm most happy about is the flexibility of TMDA. I use it in many
cases instead of procmail for some tasks 8]. The great thing is that I
can configure it completely dependent on the users' requirements.

I'm using TMDA very successfully as a "team" with two other applications.
One is a modified version of djb's rblsmtpd, which, instead of rejecting
connections based on whether the sending server is listed in a bunch of
RBL-s, marks the messages with a special header. Also I'm using
SpamAssassin site-wide to check every passing mail and add its headers as
well.

Thanks to this combination, I can then use different policies for
different users. For example my private mailbox is heavily protected.
Every new sender must confirm the e-mail [and I won't give an easy reply-
to, so that scripts could pick it up, the user has to click on a link in
a mail]. If mail is marked either by rblsmtpd or spamassassin, it's
bounced. But the bounce contains information that the user can still send
me mail using a web script I've devised on my site, so a real person can
always contact me.

Then again a friend of mine who uses his mail address for some business
purposes has his account configured quite differently. All mail is passed
with an OK, except mail marked either by rblsmtpd or SpamAssassin - then
it needs to be confirmed. This way spam was greatly reduced for him, but
valid senders in most cases don't have to confirm anything to get
through.

Another friend of mine has a similar setup to mine, but she has a lot of
friends in Spanish-speeking countries. So her auto-replies are customised
and in Spanish to people from such domains as .uy or .es.

Thanks to TMDA-CGI my users can also easily manage their queues
themselves, and I've taught them to report every spam sighted in the
queue, which is also very easy thanks to the SpamCop option in TMDA. And
I can ultimately check whether they're not making a mistake, because
they're reporting so that I have to confirm the report myself 8].

Now I don't see any other way to achieve such elasticity in setting up
spam protection for users based on their own preferences. TMDA/TMDA-CGI
is the key here. So once again I'd like to express my gratitude and I'm
spreading the word wherever and however I can to encourage people to use
it.
