First you said it happened when users CHECKED their mail, now you are saying it's when they write an e-mail and hit SEND... which is it?
If it's the latter, can you be sure that it's your system that is generating the error, or is it possible that the MTA on the system that they are sending the mail to is returning a message indicating a problem on that system? If you could include a sample of the error message or NDR that was returned, we might be able to help you better. Forward a copy of one of these error messages back to us so we can help.
