To keep this almost on-topic, SPF (hard)fails are rejected at the MTA. Softfails are used to have TMDA hold rather than confirm.
What I'll start doing again, as soon as I have SPF checking working again on my MTA, is letting TMDA pass all SPF-pass email... as a "reward" for publishing an SPF record I'll even let spammers through :)
