Hi folks. I'm a new but excited TMDA user. I'm running TMDA/0.65 (Python
2.1.1 on freebsd-4.5-RELEASE-i386), installed via a FreeBSD port. MTA is
qmail.

I'm trying to run tmda through procmail, and not through my default
address. I have everything working with incoming mail, but have some
problems with outgoing.

For incoming mail, I set CONFIRM_ADDRESS = "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
(and created .qmail-tmda and symlinked .qmail-tmda-default as noted in
http://tmda.net/config-server.html). This means that all the cookied
requests, dated stuff, etc. uses [EMAIL PROTECTED],
which is what I want. (I then pass all incoming mail sent to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] to tmda through a procmail rule).

However, when I pipe an outgoing message through tmda-sendmail, it uses
the default chris-whatever@summersault for cookied addresses. Since I
don't have a .qmail-default set up (and would like to avoid one if
possible), any responses to my outgoing mail would bounce.

If I understand the architecture correctly, it seems that tmda-sendmail
should use CONFIRM_ADDRESS to construct the cookied address, instead of
just username@hostname.

I tried to create a similar effect using filters/outgoing (creating a
catch-all instruction that modified the envelope/from), but I wasn't able
to wrap my mind around the configuration options well enough to succeed.

Am I missing something, or is this a missing piece of functionality that
no one else has had a use for yet?

Thanks for your time.

Chris
