You're absolutely correct.  The tmda-sendmail program (which just
calls the tmda-inject program) creates the tagged address from the
address in the From header field.  If you send from several different
addresses, this is a useful feature.  To make it work the way you
want, configure your MUA to use [EMAIL PROTECTED] as your From
field.

The tmda-address program has no email, and therefore no From header
field, to base the tagged address on.  So, it uses USERNAME@HOSTNAME,
which you appear to have set to do the right thing with your address.

Sort of, but it's a little confusing, to be sure.  There's a good
reason, but it's not at all obvious :)
