I take  1200mg of calcium a night, as well as 300mg of magnesium (have to take it on a full tummy tho or i get sick), and my multi has 600mg of d and my calcium has another 2 so, I take 800 I guess there. The magnesium also helps your sleep. And yeah it is too cold right now, the cold just chills my leg to te bone...so, I will get my sunshine soon!

Hi Lynn,

I am 60 and do take a vitamin D supplement and 1,000 mg of Calcium per day.  Not on any Magnesium though.  W! ill have to ask about that.  I should be able to get more than 15 mins of sunshine per day as we have lots of sunshine here summer and winter in Calgary.  But it is too dog-gone cold right now and sometimes too hot in the summer.

Does anyone know if sitting inside by the window on a sunshiny day counts as getting your 15 minutes in the sun????

Heather......15 minutes of sunshine a day DOES give you the Vitamin D you need......UNLESS you are over 50.....then you need more than that and should add a supplement.  In fact, we should take a Vit. D supplement anyway ......Vit. D and Magnesium help us absorb our Calcium.
