Panic Attacks.........Wow, can I relate. I have suffered from these for many, many years....way before TM. I, too, have made several trips to the ER. For a long time I thought I was going crazy or had a fatal disease until an Md. gave "it" a name. One of my brothers and one of my sons also suffer from these attacks. My son participated in a clinical trial at UC Davis several years ago and the drug that was being tested was Zoloft & prevention of anxiety/panic attacks. One of my worst attacks was about 20 years ago. I was working at the Post Office and getting my mail ready for delivery when 'it' hit. I rushed to the phone and called home and told my daughter to call me at work and say there was an emergency at home so I could leave. I immediately ran out the door. I have also had these attacks while driving on the freeways, at restaurants, grocery stores etc. Several weeks ago, Tammy Fay Baker was on the Larry King show discussing her cancer. She also spoke for about 10 minutes regarding her panic attacks which started way before her cancer. She mentioned going to ER's, running up and down her hallways and one time calling a friend to tell her "Good-Bye" as she just knew she was going to die. It helps to know we are not alone with these horrific attacks......but it certainly doesn't eliminate the fear at the time. I am currently on Zoloft for depression, but it does seem to help somewhat with the panic attacks. This reply certainly turned out to be much longer than I had intended!!!!!!!
