Hi Margie.
My advice: don't refuse a drug because it may have added benefits. =)
I say this because I also take a drug for my bladder spasms (unbearable!) it's Imipramine and it also is used for depression. With this and the Ditropan my bladder/bowel conditions are manageable. I'm sure that if someone was taking the Imipramine for depression they would be taking a much larger dose than I.
Anyway, I also take the bladder drugs at night, so maybe the Imipramine helps me relax enough for sleep, too.
I take 900 mgs. Neurontin, 10 mgs Baclofen, 10 mgs Imipramine, 15 mgs Ditropan for my nighttime cocktail.
If I wake during the night, I take 2 tylenol pm and they help me get back to sleep. I usually get 4 hrs. uninterupted and then a couple more after the tylenol.
I've not had a full night's sleep since this all started that was not drug induces. Besides walking and baths, deep sleep is among the things I miss the most...

Subject: [TMIC] cymbalta question

Greettings,
I had my nuero appt last week and and my goal was see if I can get
anything for my pain/burning/tingling feet and to get something to help
me sleep. (I haven't slept in a month). He wouldn't give me any
"sleeping pills" but he gave me cymbalta to help with the pain. I had
tried it once before and quit cuz it either made me sick or week or both
- I don't remember. (along with Nuerontin/lyrica and 11 other meds I've
tried) I've taken it 3 times - only at night - and it has done squat for
the pain.
Question - is this a drug that needs a few weeks to kick in?
Also - I've seen on tv that cymbalta is used for depression. why aere
we taking a med for depression for pain? Are they trying to tell us the
pain is all in our heads?
Margie
