TM PARALYSIS AND OTHER SPINAL CORD PARALYSIS AFFECTS EACH OF US DIFFERENTLY. I
AM, FOR INSTANCE, PARALYZED FROM THE CHEST DOWN TO MY TOES. I CANNOT MOVE NOR
CONTROL MY STOMACH, BACK LEG, ANKLE OR FOOT MUSCLES. I CAN, HOWEVER, FEEL
TOUCH ON MY RIGHT SIDE AND BOTH TOUCH AND PIN PRICKS ON MY LEFT, ALL FROM THE
CHEST DOWN. UNDER MY LEFT BREAST AREA, I CANNOT FEEL ANYTHING AT ALL., WHICH
KEEPS ME FROM FEELING ACID REFLUX AND HEART PAIN-ANGINA.

IF THAT HELPS EXPLAIN YOUR FRIEND'S SITUATION ANY.

EVEN SOME HAVE EXTRA SENSITIVE REACTIONS TO TOUCH AND PIN PRICKS. USED TO BE
THAT I COULD NOT STAND EVEN THE WIND BLOWING THE HAIRS ON MY LEGS, IT WOULD
DRIVE ME NUTS.

I DO HAVE WHAT I CALL "THE PRINCES AND THE PEA SYNDROME", AND THAT IS WHERE
SOMETHING LIKE A BED SHEET CAN HANG UP ON ONE OF MY TOES EVER SO LIGHTLY, AND
AFTER A TIME IT FEELS LIKE A ROPE TIGHTENING AROUND IT.

ALL OF US ARE DIFFERENT, AND SOME CANNOT FEEL ANYTHING AT ALL.

I WAS DOING SOME CRAFT WORK WITH A HOT GLUE GUN ONCE, AND SOMEHOW THE HOT TIP
LAID ON MY RIGHT THIGH JUST ABOVE THE KNEE AND BURNED A HOLE IN MY JEANS AND MY
SKIN BEFORE I NOTICED MY LEG TWITCHING MORE THAN USUAL AND SAW THE GLUE GUN AND
WHAT IT HAD DONE. HAD IT BEEN MY LEFT LEG, I WOULD HAVE KNOWN IMMEDIATELY.

HOPE THIS HELP.

Can we talk about being paralyzed and just being unable to move? My friend
cannot move her legs, cannot roll over in bed, cannot hold the phone or use her
hands to type, etc, but she is not paralyzed -- if you touch her or stick a pin
in her she can feel it. How do you differentiate thes conditions?

You know,

I have new symptoms as well and worry about them greatly, but I believe that so
little is known about paraplegism that most Dr.'s and even Neuro's don't know
how to deal with them.

I have been calling my doctor since last week for an answer and the answer is
always the same, "Doctor has not come to a conclusion yet. We are waiting for
the lab work to come back."

I've not heard of this "butterfly" symptom in the four years I have been on the
List, and yet here it is, mentioned twice in one set of emails. I wonder if
there is anything new going on in the world.

Is there anyone out there who is already paralyzed who feels like they are
being paralyzed all over again beginning at the toes and traveling all the way
up to the original ending spot? My original site stopped at T3 and fortunately
did not affect my arms except for some slight tremor, but this time it feels
like my arms are going to be paralyzed too.

Please email me or the list if you have been through this.

Bless Us All,
Jude
