I just can't get my mind around the fact that there are paraplegics who are truly paralyzed and those that can walk.

Jude, you and me both. And not from folks I've heard about here, but from my neighbors, who are all ambulatory, and many of whom told me they have motorized chairs ( when I couldn't get one....i no have one, but am unable to use it because, I can't transfer into it from my manual chair(!!!)

For months they were like " Girl you need to get you one of those electric chairs" as they watched me bruise my knuckles on the nonautomatic door at this allegedly wheelchair accessible HUD-supported apartment building. And one by one, these walkers would reveal that they had one....

arghhhh. such is the system and these are folks who know how to work it.
