LOL! What part of America are you in?
You know Akua,

Not all of us have the "defeatist" attitude that you seem to have. It wouldn't hurt you to have a bit of forebearance when it comes to the charitable efforts of others.

Interesting choice of words, I've been LAUDED for facing down the odds... hey, all my doctors told me they would be on drugs, were they in my situation.

I'm not.

I fell down alone in my house and yet I have managed to continue to be alive, to find a way to create, offer workshops to my neighbors for free, assist them using computer access, figured out how to keep a roof over my head, piece by piece, hand over hand.

I have found that most people truly react to how they are treated in the first place. I am always happy, ready with a compliment and thankful for any help that someone is willing to give.

I love help. I've never refused assistance,
I dislike being given more to do, when I already have so much to do, and less energy and wherewithall to do it.

I live in Flint, Michigan...not considered one of the "garden" spots in the nation...and yet have not only had groceries delivered, but also prescriptions from my drug store (Rite Aid), and library books. I give a token "gift" when I can, but have no means of support so it is not often that I do so, but I always am polite and ready with a smile and a thankful attitude. That and I try to take the time to sit and listen to what is going on with the persons day. You might be surprised what trials they have to deal with that are similar in some respect to ours.

I have no clue what this is referring to---- again, I've NEVER refused assistance, You seem off on some tangent. I truly don't understand this. Being told to look stuff up, and now this suggestion that I am not getting this help because i am insufficiently ingratiating?!!! is very offputting.

I'm not perfect, as most on the list knows firsthand, but kindness does beget kindness and you may be surprised at what people are willing to do for you given a little appreciation.

Peace and Prayers,
Jude
