Hi, Heather! I'm going to call my insurance to make sure an office visit is covered to even talk to the person listed in Richland. That is only about 80 miles from here. If so then I'll call them to see about this device! It sure sounds exciting especially for those of us that have the foot drag. I was walking this morning thinking about how smooth my walking would be if I didn't have that lazy leg and foot! Heck! Even tho we can't feel, if that device worked, it would be such a Godsend!
Whenever we go shopping, I have to use the wheelchair. I just can't stand very long without the pain coming on like gangbusters! If we are just going from the car to the house or wandering around out here, I walk, usually with Jack holding my hand. That is one of the main reasons we are making a walking path. I want to build up strength so I can walk longer distances. Thanks again for sharing this! Hi Jeanne, I thought I would like to give it a try too. I want to read a little more about it. The Aids to Daily Living is in Calgary here. They were the ones who helped me when I needed the wheelchair, walker, special pole and hand holds when I was first sick back in 2003 and couldn't walk. Apparently here in Calgary it is just being covered and they are going to try with 150 people to see how it works. My doctor just heard about the coverage a couple of days ago. He told me to view the website and see what I think then give his office a call and he would write the prescription for it. There is one orthotist in Calgary who has been designated to work with this device. Sounds promising anyway. I have foot drop and tend to always use walker or shopping cart when out for fear of tripping myself up with the toe of my weak foot. Oh, my gosh, Heather! This looks so great! I've already ordered the CD/DVD and also found a place in the Tri Cities which is about an hour away from us! It sounds like a Godsend! The next thing I'll do is check with the Aids for Daily Living to see if they can help me, also, with a prescription from my provider which I'm sure she will give! Thank you SO much for this information! Hi there, I was just at my Physiatrist this afternoon. Got a shot of cortizone in the weak side hip for bursitis there. It helped last spring so hope it will help this year too. I can get it every 2 or 3 months if I need to. Anyway, he told me about this new device and I would like to know if anyone else has heard of it or tried it. He told me it was worth $4000. but now there is a group called Aids for Daily Living here that will cover it. I am going to get him to give me a prescription for it and see how it works. But I want to read up on this on this website first. http://www.walkaide.com/index.html Thanks, Heather in Calgary No virus found in this incoming message. Checked by AVG.
