Well, I might be wrong.....  But I got the impression that House considered the 
transverse myelitis as one of a set of symptoms this week, and not a full-blown 
disease of its own.  Because he said to give antibiotics for the TM, and then 
to continue running tests for other things.  Like the TM was just one of the 
guy's symptoms. I believe TM can be considered an inflammation of the spine, in 
which case I suppose someone could have that in addition to some other 
problems.  What do you guys think?  I'm sure they must have excellent doctors 
advising House, because they use such fancy terms all the time.  They must know 
that tons of medical professionals watch that show, and so have to be really 
accurate all the time.

    If they had reason to believe that the TM was caused by an underlying 
infection, they would prescribe antibiotics.  There are many diseases that 
present with TM as a symptom, my own (NMO) included.
