Thank you Mary for the info. I didn't know that there was such a group.

First, does your plan say “own occupation” or something to that effect? You need to get a very special attorney who does disability insurance cases. You can try and get one hourly but most accept only contingency based. Do NOT sign anything before you are clear if they will end up getting 50% of every disability check from now on. Better than nothing. Anyway, the best thing to do is sign on to “disinissues” a group like TMIC but strictly disability insurance issues, hence the name. it is not a warm fuzzy group like tmic. You don’t get on there and say ‘oh, I am having such a rotten day, sigh’. It is more like ‘I got terminated without notice at 2.5 years and don’t know how to proceed’. Read the archives, I think you can do that. But you need good advice fast. You have like 30 days to respond. I know I got terminated and by luck managed to get back on (they were absolutely in the wrong). But these companies are ruthless. They are protected by ERISA, government stuff that started out as a pension plan protector, and ended up being disability companies best friend for screwing legitimately disabled people out of their due. Is your disability physical (I don’t want to know, its rhetorical)? Good. You’ve got a chance. Is your disability mental? Not good. They can and do terminate you at two years which is typical of them. Go here and sign up. Read the rules, they mean them. They are good, but strict. Love it or hate it, but they can usually give great info. groups.yahoo.com/group/ Disinissues good luck. I received a check from my independent disability insurance co. Staurday for 7-1-08 thru 7-4-08. When I called, to find out why, the rep tells me that their review board has decided that after 2 1/2 years that I could be doing working seditary work in todays economy. I stated that I had not gotten any info informing me of such. The rep apolozied and said he would be sending a letter in the next day or two explaining. I told the rep that if they could find me a job where I could work 2 maybe 3 days a week for 2 or 3 hours at max and an employer who would allow me to call, or not call because I'm totally exhusted and sleep thru an alarm, that paid $25 to $30 an hour, then I'd give it a whirl. However, the jobs here in Naples, FL are service oriented and the "better" paying jobs require you to be up and mobile. The rep stated one time that it was the review board doctor and then another time that it was my doctor that stated I was fit to work in a seditary position. I see my doctor tomorrow and I guess I need to consult a lawyer. These insurance companies are something else! I'm so upset and yet I keep telling myself to calm down cause I know what stress does to me and my condition. Does anyone have any advise other than what I plan to do? Prayers and thoughts for you and yours, Candy K.
