I lived away from home in HUD house in another city after being
hospitalized for TM as niether my 2nd apt or home were accessible.
Anyway the building was for the aged or disabled and everyone yelled
at me about retro money. Well between whenever they started their
ssa payments and when I filed there was a change : a
mandatory/prescribed six months after onset before $ commenced and
you did not get the 6 months back... as if the system was saying that
to prove you were truly disabled, you had to suffer on your own
without income for six months before help kicked in.
No retro for me either. And but for the kindness of strangers i would
have lost my home because
at one point I had to pay for my mortgage, security and a month's
rent and rent on the inaccessible apartment, because they considered
my moving as breaking the lease and so they kept the security, even
thought i paralyzed and in a wheelchair.....argh.
