Janice:
Thank you so much! I am very proud of her. She has come so far since she was
hit with TM in 5th grade. She was out of her wheelchair and walked, with
crutches across the 6th grade graduation stage. She received a standing ovation
from the entire crowd as well as her class. Her goal for her graduation this
year is to walk the stage with no crutches at all. I have every faith in her
that she can do it and the teachers want to help her achieve it and will do
whatever they need to do so that she can accomplish her biggest goal to date.
She has maintained straight A's from the time she was hit with TM until now.
She will do well in college and will be great in whatever job she decides on.
This is so bittersweet for me and I am tearing up as I type this. I have
watched her grow from a scared 5th grader paralyzed from the waist down to a
beautiful and confident 18 year old young woman who can walk with crutches and
quite a few steps without crutches who has become a member of the National
Honor Society, a straight student and now a college student. She has a heart of
gold and won't let anything stop her from becoming who she wants to be. She is
still very grounded though as she wants a good job, a loving husband, a few
children, a home with a white picket fence and she wants to stay in the small
county that we live in so that she can be near our family and her brother and
sister. She has been dating a specific guy for 9 months now and they are
talking about getting engaged while she is in college, getting married when she
graduates and then starting her family. She has made me so proud of who she has
become.
I want to thank everyone on here. Several of you on here have helped when I had
questions or concerns and have always encouraged her to be whatever she wanted
to be. For that, I will forever be grateful!
