Hi Nicholas; I can confirm the override line you suggested seems to work nicely with r2860, thanks. I'll make that part of my configuration [1] and will forward this to the VTE devs shortly.
I wonder if there could be some more reliable means of testing whether the terminal supported the DECCRA operation than testing the xterm version number.
