If you only have 2 panes you could just zoom the one you want to keep.
Otherwise no you can't hide a single pane.

Subject: Re: hiding a pane
Hi,
Is it possible to hide / unhide a pane of a certain window? This would
be useful in many situations but for me I have a setup where each
window is devoted to a server and I would like to put notes about the
server into one pane (i.e ip address/ username etc..). Then I could
hide this pane when I don't need it and show it when I do need it.
I know i could just resize the pane to a very small portion of the
screen but I would rather hide it completely.
Thanks!
Dusty
