Really?
This gets complicated all too quickly and I fail to see the benefit for
supporting hidden panes. Zooming panes is fine, since that's a temporary
measure, and is transient with respect to how the panes operate (if you try
and do something with panes when its maximised, it will unzoom it first).
But hidden panes just seem weird. Use more windows if the separation
matters.
