I guess that that is what I would be looking for ( cut-n-paste from you: "The IBM client access and tn5250j can also be configured so that the return key is also the process data key." ) Now that I know about the ctrl key - I'm good. I would be curious though (and now that you mention it - we do use client access express on our windows users pc's) - that they use the "return key" (in this vein of speak) after keying in name and pw. I'm pretty sure (although not 100%) that the probably use the "return key" for every other transaction after logged in too while using the session. So in a nutshell: How can I make the "return key" behave as the "enter" key?
Appreciate the feedback guys! Sorry to be a pain.

Subject: Antw: [Tn5250j-general] Question: Usage on laptop (no number pad enter key)
What do you mean that the enter key doesn't do anything?
The normal 5250 numeric pad enter key is the key you can press to justify the data entered into a field. For example, if you enter data into a field that needs a number, the enter key justifies the data to the right.
After you enter your name and password you normally need to press the right "Cntrl" key to have the screen processed. The IBM client access and tn5250j can also be configured so that the return key is also the process data key.
In short, the return key is not the same as the enter key, and they are normally not the process data key.

How? lol!!
I obviously don't have a lot of experience in this realm. I was showing this to another fellow here @work, and the first thing that he thought of was to try it on a desktop PC with a "real keyboard" - ie; one with the number pad. It works. Here on my laptop - I can key in my name and password - but the "enter" key doesn't seem to actually do anything.
Stuck again. ;( <grin>
Thanks....
