Hello all Have not been around lately and would like to apologize for that. One of the clients I have changed access policies due to the external auditors who says that no external access is allowed. So actually was cut off. Had a huge project to finish at another client but was not as400 based so actually have not had access to an as400 for a couple of months now. Been back and forth to the US a couple of times getting some business worked out as well. Just got back yesterday from England and hopefully starting up with the other client with as400 access again next week or the week after. Actually while I was out Steve Kennedy updated CVS with fixes to the SSL modules that I broke while ripping out all the modules. If you guys write me or to the list I hope we can start this back up. Have not looked at the code for a long while but am sure with you guys help out there we can get things rolling again. Does anybody have any changes they would like to discuss? Please post them to myself or to the list. One thing I would like do is get the SSL working with the new boxes again. I have tried to use this against a V5R2 box and it did not connect although client access did. Are they using some other SSL interface that we do not support? Well anyway let's get this development rolling again. Post your enhancements that you would like to see or heck post some code of problems you have found and I will make sure they are in. Hell just post to say hello :-) Regards Kenneth [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Does anybody know what is going on with Ken? It has been very quiet around here lately. That is something we are not used around this project ;-)|---------+-------------------------------------------> | | Pete Helgren <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> | | | Sent by: | | | [EMAIL PROTECTED]| | | ceforge.net | | | | | | | | | 28/02/2005 19:18 | | | Please respond to | | | tn5250j-general | | | | |---------+-------------------------------------------> >-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | To: [email protected] | | cc: | | Subject: Re: [Tn5250j-general] TN5250J for commercial use? | >-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| I am by no means an Open Source license expert, but as I understand the GPL, you can include tn5250j in a commercial application, as long as you include all the source code, a copy of the GPL and don't charge for more than the cost of distribution. If you make general enhancements to the code, you must include the source for those enhancements as well and distribute them under the same licensing arrangements. Note that Linux is distributed under the GPL so you can see that "commercial" GPL licensed code distribution is common. If you already have a commercial app, and want to add tn5250j, probably the most simple way to do it is a a free download or a separate CD and license so you maintain the distinction between what you license for a fee and what you have as free. Should you add proprietary extensions, not based on existing source, you can charge for those features and license them however you want. However the base tn5250j must remain free and licensed under the GPL. There are folks who know a whole lot more about this than I do. I don't know if there are commercial licensee's on this list or not. We are a commercial software developer, but we charge only for support, we give all of our software away for free (under various licenses, including the GPL). You can always Google for more on the GPL. There is a lot out there. Hope this is helpful. Pete Brian Skårup wrote:I have been looking at tn5250j for a couple of days and am thinking about including it into our commercial software. I can see that the license is GPL. I have mailed Kenneth and also asked this question in the Support Requests forum whitout any response. Have any of you used it a commercial application and what are the license terms? /Brian Skaarup ------------------------------------------------------- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users.
