Yes I do that recently (qmail-queue patch add for a test ... no problem)
but it is not the same way for smtp-auth and starttls
for the qmail-queue, for information, I update softlimit in smtpd-run for play with 
qmail-scanner/sophos (10000000)
but it's very, very slow, I don't understand why .
