Follow up question: I'm not concerned with IMAP (thank goodness), just
POP and hopefully web-enabled access. When you say "configure", what is
the procedure and syntax? Just re-run .configure with that option?
Will that overwrite previous options? Do I need to do anything in
advance of that, i.e. will it mess anything up?
If you follow the toaster, then just add that to the other options. Your new configure line will look like this:

./configure --enable-roaming-users=y --enable-logging=v --enable-passwd=y

You will not need to recompile anything else since vchkpw is the only program affected by this change.
