Thanks for reporting back.  Can you clarify whether this patch compiles
against OpenSSL 0.9.8, which I beleive was the problematic version?

Hi,

The patch worked with
openssl0.9.7e-3 and
openssl0.9.8a-3 with gcc 4.0.2-2, OS= Debian Testing
