Vani & All, I would love to help here (or any other case, if I can). Before that I would explain few things to all of you. About Global Hospital: I was working for them till May'2005 in a strategically important position. I have done the costing of their services (services like investigations, packages, liver transplants, room rent and all..like why room rent should be this much, what should be the tariff for an investigation etc.). Presently I am NOT working for them, but Uma is the Chief Radiologist of Global Hospital. So I am still in touch with the management and staff. Global Hospital is a costly hospital and it is because of the quality involved, services are costly. Global is the only dedicated centre for LIVER TRANSPLANT in Andhra Pradesh and amongst one of the ONLY FOUR(other three being Apollo Indraprastha, New Delhi, CMC Vellore, Sir Gangaram Hospitals, Delhi) hospitals available in India to perform liver transplant. They have done many transplants for kids, some times freely, sometimes only for the price of the medicines. Liver transplant is a very costly (and risky) treatment because apart from the transplant cost (which is around 12-15lakhs for paediatric cases), the patient has to take medication life long. For an adult, every month the cost of the drugs vary between 25K to 40K. And because of this high cost, all the patients buy the post-transplant medicines DIRECTLY FROM THE SUPPLIER. So if some situation arises, then I will see if something more can be done for this kid. While writing this mail, I called up the TRANSPLANT -COORDINATOR of Global, Mrs. Jayalaxmi about this case. She says she is not aware of this case. So I feel the discussion has not gone to any depth with Global Hospitals. Before any transplant takes place, the recipient has to undergo a lot of tests and for an adult, the cost of the tests (pre-transplant check-up) are Rs.118000, but for sentimental reason, we fixed that at Rs.95000. I dont know if they have changed it in the last year.Mrs. Jayalaxmi is supposed to know everything related to the patient, the condition being the transplant coordinator. Whatever it is, like Prasanthi & team attended Divena and Paparao garu, I can do the same for this kid if it is Global Hospitals.(I mean except for the concession part, I can talk on anything, do anything there for any patient in Global Hospitals. I will never talk about concession to the MD because he will be asking me, 'You know everything, how you can ask for this favour?' and if he is in an irritated mood, he may even ask, 'is dr. uma going to take less pay this month if i extend concession for this case?'). But all sort of services/counselling and other things...be assured that the patient is going to get the best of those. Ratan P.S. I have not seen the news myself. Is it really transplant related case?
