Hi Prasanthi,
This sounds interesting. So, basically our group is involved in the
following, right?
1. Investment
2. Pickup/deliver aka transport i.e., spend some of our time for the
task.
3. Identify unique and deserving institutions/groups/people
What has essentially been eliminated is that we will not be cooking
anymore, which seemed to be one of the points of gripe among the members.
So, steps 1, 2 and 3 essentially resemble the way we do our work for medical
cases. Step 3 above helps expand the presence our group in FDP arena.
* How many people are needed for activity #2?
* What is the scope for improvement in the future?
* Is this something workable or is this also debatable?
Cheers!
Karthik

Hello Friends,
As you all know, we have great difference of opinion with respect to FDP
and our approach to it. Also we couldn't do it in March and I think we
cannot go for it in April as well.
But we should discuss well in April to be ready to start FDP from May.
It seems like most of our members are against our present system of
distribution. They wanted us to visit any govt. run orphanages and
distribute food there. As there is a cooking place and required utensils and
people to cook, it would be enough if we go there and give rice and look
after the work. This is the suggestion.
One of our members, Ms. Radhika, mailed to me that we get rice bags for
cheap from Mandapet, her village as they have rice mills there. She gave her
father's number to me and asked me to talk with him.
I mailed to Satish garu (Satish Ketineedi) about Radhika gari help and his
opinion. He told me to ask the price and if at all that is feasible, he can
arrange for the transport from Mandapet.
This evening I spoke with Sri Nageswara Rao, father of Ms. Radhika.
He told that it costs Rs. 1100 per quintol, if it is swarna and Rs. 1400,
if it is sona. Means Rs. 11 and Rs. 14 per kg.
We buy rice @16 rs. per kg here in Hyderabad for our FDP.
But he told that it might cost much for transportation.
I told him that we will think of it and will get back to him within 3
days. If we can arrange for the transport, we will get rice for that price.
I mailed the price to Satish garu and am waiting for a response from him.
Our tasks:
1. We should first discuss and should come to a consensus on the modus
operandi
(I/we never meant that there should be any chance of
improvement. I only request people to participate actively in the initial
discussion and come up with their suggestions and let us come to a consensus
first. If we notice any drawbacks, we will share with you all and we can
think of improvement and alternatives)
2. Based on that we should make an estimate. If at all everyone agrees for
a govt. orphanage or SC/ST hostel, we should first identify such ones (we
can get the info. from any local reporter) and should choose one which is
near by to most of us or at least to the volunteers who support FDP.
3. Then visit it and note down the strength, take rough estimate from
them.
4. Based on the number of supporters for this program and the amount, we
can decide about the frequency, twice in month or once in a week.
5. Then we can get to know our requirement for rice in a month.
Everyone, please participate actively and contribute to this discussion.

Thank you.
with regards,
PRASANTHI.
