This is great going guys.
Couple of things if i may .
1) Dr Sundar's project: I really appreciate his efforts in organizing the
medical camps and especially targeting the problem of malnutrition. I would
like to extend my support to this project financially. I've a budget of 30k
that i could spend towards this project. So please let me know if you could
consider this.
2) Services to a hospital: We could take this a step further and introduce
something called as hospital on wheels. This is to go out to the far out places
once in a while and to near by places every so often. Again the budget for this
will be around 5 lakhs. here is an example
(http://www.sulabhinternational.org/pg09.htm) . Sulabh has done similar work on
this.
3) RTI : I know i have been saying this for a while , but i finally found
some good leads and would be it taking this to the next level i.e, filing the
application.

Hi All,

Sarath, Phaninder, Ratan, Krishna Nag, Satya Krishna, Sundar with his sister
and two cousins, Kasyap, Chaitanya
Agenda Discussed:
1. Objectives of Group:
After some discussion on this point we arrived to a conclusion that for
the group to head to a progressive point we need to be able to assess the
difference that we made at regular intervals. Taking this as the basis we
arrived at the following:
a. Project on Education Side: Adopting a School
Our perview of this project would be limited to the following activities:
i. Infrastructure Support
ii. Basic Health Awareness
iii. Fees, Books (Note: Uniforms will not be supported)
iv. Library
v. Teaching Aids
vi. Involvement with Parents in case of dropout (This needs to be done
through the school teachers)
b. Individual Education Cases - Support will be to provide only the annual
fees.
i. Support from the group* to any education case will be Rs. 5000/-
maximum per year.
ii. If the particular case requires more money then that will be
published in the mails and individual contributions for that case will be
provided to them.
iii. If a case requires only Rs. 3000/- per year, the remaining amount
will be used only for a new case but will not be used for a case already being
supported and needs additional amount.
iv. The number of students that would be supported per year is as
follows:
Till 10th Class - 10 students
Intermediate - 5 students
Graduation - 5 students (In this our support would be for the
minimum years for graduation)
c. Distribution Programs
i. FDP - Identify organisations like orphanage / old age home and then
study how regularly we would be able to do FDP in that organisation.
d. Project on Medical side: Provide regular services to a Hospital
i. Niloufer hospital is identified for this
ii. Infrastructure support - right now they need water filters
iii. Support the doctors and work with them in improving the services
iv. Speak to the nurses and find out the situation of the hospital
v. The exact support other than the infrastucture that we can give is
not clear as of now but the interaction with the staff should help us identify
that.
e. Individual Medical Cases
i. Maximum amount from group* to a case would be Rs. 10,000/-
ii. One case per month will be supported
iii. If there is no case in one month then we will support two in the
next month, but if a case is already supported for a month and another comes to
notice we will not be providing any financial support from the group*, though
individual contributions will be provided to them.
2. Membership
i. A person is a member of group only if he/she pays the prescribed fees
regularly
ii. Subscription to yahoo groups does not make them members
iii. The payment should be paid Quaterly into the ICICI account through
online payment / cheque / cash and need to intimate the finance group regarding
the payment by mailing to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
iv. Excess payment will be diverted to the projects/cases which the
member is interested in.
v. Outside India - $10/- per month, Within India - Rs. 100/- per month
3. Active Members: The members who attend monthly meetings regulary will be
termed as active members. They should atleast attend one meeting per quarter.
4. Support Sundar's Doctors Team: The ayurvedic doctors have got a
composition which can help kids from being mal nourished. The composition cost
0.35 paise per satchet which should be taken one per day, which sums out to be
approximately Rs10 per kid per month, so if we provide this for 100 kids it
will be Rs. 1000/- per month. We have decided to provide support for this from
the group*
group* : The membership fees will be formed as group fund, so the maximum
amount specified in the individual cases will be through this fund.
5. Forming of Teams:
A discussion happened on the topic of forming teams in order to spread
responsibilities and make progress on the activities related to that. But that
was contradicted as that would make people think restrictively and may actually
hinder someone from taking up more activities. In order to share
responsibilities - the projects would have around 2-3 people who will be the
point of contact and updating the team on the activities. And the volunteers
will be coordinating with these people in execution of the project.
Action Items
1. By May 31st payment for the quarter April-May-June should be deposited in
the account.
2. Prasanthi will be identifying few organisations for FDP and we will be
finalising on this in the next monthly meeting.
3. Suresh will be making arrangements to install one water filter in Niloufer
and also talking to the nurses. He would be going to Niloufer this saturday
(12th May)
If anyone of us can also help Prasanthi and Suresh on the action items, do go
ahead.
Next Meeting: will be conducted at Kasyap's house at MotiNagar
If I missed out any point please do add/modify.
Regards
