Friends, I want to make my stand clear on few things.
My contribution: When we started taking up cases, I used to give Rs. 500 and after few months, started giving Rs. 1000 for few months. For the past few months I haven't contributed. I decided to pay the monthly membership of 100 rs. only from this quarter (Apr, May, June) The reason is that I feel we are deviating from the very basic principle of why we started the group -- helping those in need. Our very definition of needy is being changed. It seems like we want Six Sigma perfection in extending our help. We are not interested to help beggars for they are lazy. We do not want to help people who are earning, no matter how less they might earn, even though they promise to return in a stipulated period of time. We cannot help professional courses for they demand too much money. There will be no point in taking up medical cases. Whom are we going to help? Children are the only people who will come under our purview. My idea is something different and so instead of giving 1000 rs. to the group, I want to pay only the membership fee. I can spend the 900 rs. to the causes that I feel genuine, individually. If I pay 1000 rs. to the group, I will not have money to pay for the cause that I am interested in. At the same time I cannot leave a case that I feel genuine. Accounting: We say, for any project, if members are interested, they can donate personally from the money other than the monthly contributions. Who are going to keep track of the money and maintain the accounts? That to, we say, we are not yet ready for Registering the group. No one comes forward to take up a role. Everyone says, we work, we do not want a role. So we cannot register a group. So who will take this responsibility? It is proposed that for any activity, we will announce in the group and whoever are interested to take it up, will be the main volunteer for the case and others interested will be considered as a team for that case. It has been posted for long that Accounts has to be maintained. Who took up this activity and what is the work done? Once I submit the accounts on May 31st, I will not take the responsibility of accounting and reporting. It would be a problem for me in the long run if money gets transacted to my personal account. (This is one issue to be discussed). >From June till a decision is taken on the Group Account, I will forward the login, password details to the volunteers of the Finance team and they should handle the account. I will not take this responsibility of Accounts after May 31st. Updating the projects: Web site Management Team should take the responsibility of updating the Web site with the projects. Again I take the responsibility for all the projects so far. As I am working on Accounts, I can complete the report on Projects. >From June, for any new project, I request particular team or group of volunteers who work on a project to send the details to Web site Management Team so that they can keep the site up to date. Activities: Till May 31st, I will not be taking up any new activities as I have to complete the very important task. To be or Not to be an Active Member: It has been decided in the last meeting that those who attend one monthly meeting in a quarter would be considered as an active member. First, I want to know how many members in Hyderabad are serious enough and want to be volunteers not mere members. Second, I want to know the opinion of all the members irrespective of whether they participate in the activity or not. If members continue to be silent and if we end up knowing that we have mostly people who do things only for satisfaction and to pass time, I do not want to attend the meetings. I will not attend any meeting. I will not bother about any decisions or activities. I will be a mere member paying the membership fee of 100 rs. I will work on activities of my interest and choice and what I think would make real difference. I do not need any group tag to do the work that I am interested in doing. (Of course that is the same with any one. I am just expressing my opinion) Registering the group and my take: Same here too. If something is against my convictions, I cannot work. If things are not clear to me, I cannot take a decision. So for now, I wish to back up my choice of taking the role of a Secretary. I am not opting for any role even if the group decides to go for a Registration. Even if people nominate me also, I will not accept.
