hmm....

Govt. versus Private hospitals and cost. Recently I read in the
Hyderabad local paper that RTI act and/or the new govt. rule demands
that hospitals has to display the costs of various treatments. Many
doctors said that as cases and complications differs from person to
person, they cannot say the cost of operations but they can give the
details of other things like room cost, general tests etc.,

In my personal experience in CARE, Banjara Hills, NIMS, Niloufer and
Oncology Center, I didn't find anything wrong with the doctors or
hospital authorities. In fact I find the mistake with Press. First
time ever I begin to realize that we shouldn't believe what is written
in the media. Earlier I used to read the dailies as if they are god's
prayers. I didn't do any work before reading the news papers. Any
poems that I wrote or the impressions that I got of different issues
all of them are based on the media.

Especially with Lakshmi Narasamma case, when Dr. Sundar spoke with Dr.
Vasan, we get to know the truth. I felt very bad of what the Press has
written. Why the so called intelligentsia of media didn't try to get
the opinion of the concerned doctors?

If we are in the shoes of doctors, what would be our reaction? I
recollect the comment of one of my friends who was a medico then. I
quarrelled with him that he was not in touch with me and he explained
me about the life of medicos. He told me about a 12 yr old boy whose
legs and hands were cut off (due to stucking up in a machine or
something). On seeing my expression to his words, he exclaimed that on
listening itself I was reacting so and how would he feel on seeing
many cases as such daily. They feel blank and they don't feel like
talking at all.

They too are humans and they too have emotions but they get used to
it. I also asked him if he is interested in Poetry etc., (to show my
poems ofcourse :) ) He said that though he is interested, he doesn't
feel like reading because if he uses that time to think or read on how
a heart functions, it would be of use to him. I was really surprised
then. He is also a very silent and serious person. But when I saw the
doctors in NIMS and when they answer to the point and do not give us a
chance to talk, I thought might be doctors are so.

Coming to the case, I do not want to express my opinion on any case
for sometime. It is upto the group to decide.

Thank you.
