We have been trying to raise funds and get donors as we feel all the cases are genuine. The three that are in our notice under Health are equally important and at the same time we do not have enough funds. We knocked every door possible. Though we have sent mails to many social work groups in Chennai, we didn't get any response. (May be they didn't check our mail so far). I was very disheartened and thinking on ways to get the fund and whom to approach and all. Mail from Yasoda lightened up my face and lightened my heart :) Immediately I mailed to Venkat garu asking about his interest giving the urls of all important cases. What I thought was, if he gives us a chance to decide, to give 75$ to Suchorita and 75$ to Suchitra. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the reply from Venkat garu. He has gone through all the urls and felt Suchitra's case as utmost important and also immediately transferred 350 more dollars to Chandra's account. He requested us to enquire and if they could secure some donations, asked to spend the remaining amount on another genuine case. I replied to him that we will use it for Suchorita. He told us that as there is some time for Suchorita, he will try to send some more amount and also will try to collect from his friends. No words to explain the feeling on reading this. Now we have money to proceed/justify in all the three cases. What I proposed earlier is that we will give Rs. 20,000 to Suchorita and 10,000 to KKS Orphanage (of the Rs. 30k that we wish to spend on health in a quarter). Also one month contribution of Prasad garu to FDP would be Rs. 4032. If we can make it a round figure and send, it would be Rs. 15000 to KKS Orphanage. Now we have 20,000 rs. for Suchitra. I shared the same with Arun. Arun asked me to wait. He said he will meet the Program Director and also talk to them and then decide on how much we can give. Actually he has forwarded the mail, that he has sent to his colleagues, to me. It was so touchy and moving. I replied him that no one can resist such an email. I also mailed him that I wish he forms a team there and relocate to Hyderabad :) Evening when he rang, he told me that he was overwhelmed by the response and he couldn't believe and expect the response from his colleagues. I could feel that thrill (may not be the apt word) in his voice. This incident proved our conviction again. Everyone has the warmth for fellow beings and they really use the opportunity to serve others. We should communicate, show them that there is a way we can easily walk in. How often we feel that people may not respond, they don't care to reply, they are indifferent, busy etc., etc., But all are our inhibitions. By the way, yesterday itself I updated the Chennai page.
