Hi All,

I would like to emphasize on something here.
I don't know how valid am I because I am talking about people in general and
not some people in specific.
If we are going to have one hour of power save (in the night, especially), I
do not know how much of power are we going to save.. but one thing is for
sure.
Since, we copy cat people from the West most of the times, we are going to
increase the chances of global warming on 31st of December and 1st of Jan
(and also on 25th December).. Most of the people prefer to enjoy whole
night and hence more electricity consumption. This is very much valid for
places like Mumbai, which is very much a metropolitan city.
Now, the above statement doesn't mean "STOP CELEBRATING NEW YEAR" I am just
thinking how successful will this program be if we are going to spend 8
hours of electricity with too many lights for one whole night.

Satirically speaking, we can save a lot of power if all the housewives stop
watching the saas-bahu serials :P

And actually speaking, please let us not go by the statistics of Sydney,
Australia. The reason for the same is - They use A/Cs.. and create so much
of harmful air, that pollutes air and enhances the possibility of global
warming at a higher rate.

I do not know what are the other two places above India (except for US) in
growing the chances of the global warming. We are ranked 4th for the same.
One of the reasons, that India is not able to curtail the situation is
because it is a developing country and is using a lot of power in enhancing
the technology.

Here are few suggestions from my side (of course, few are from our practises
and few of them are forwarded)
-> If you have to work with the computer - please switch off the monitor, if
you are not using it for sometime (If not shutting it down)
-> Please use tube lights and fans when required.
-> Many times, it so happens that most of the companies we work for uses too
much of power (by keeping the lights switched on even when employees are not
present at the work place) which can be reduced if we inform the security to
switch off the lights while going back home (if we are one of last persons
to leave or remind him while leaving to check the same later)
-> Televisions and Computers have their own pros and cons. So, let us focus
on the pros and use them effectively.
-> Use water economically so that you do not switch on the bore often and
thus also preserve water levels of your area.
-> At your workplace, do not switch on the A/C all the time. Using a/cs is
not good for human health and environment health too..
-> Make use of bicycles or walk, if the place is not too far. (Help with low
fuel consumption)
-> There is one more way of reducing the global warming. Why do not we use
Solar heaters for lights and heating water? (The reason for this being a
question is I do not use it. While writing this mail, I was thinking about
it)

Please do come up with your own suggestions on power saving.

Regards,
Vani.
