Prasanthi, Ravi Sankar and Me met Mr Naresh Garu, HM, Mehdipatnam School on
31-05-08. When we asked him about the children's requirement for this academic
year, he said they require some notebooks (Mathematics, Science, Copy Writing,
... etc). I'll get the exact list sooner. As the school reopens on 12th June, I
think it's better to provide them before the reopening date. Please suggest me
whether we can utilize group funds for this case or we go with the help of some
other foundations like Satyam Foundation as suggested by Prasanthi.
If the funds are ready, Shall we go to the shop keepers directly and
purchase or we order him to deliver to the school? If we wish to go directly,
who is willing to come with me for purchasing?
Also, We discussed with him about RTI to get complete details of budget per
school from the GOVT. He is willing to extend his support for filing RTI. This
is also in pending.
Ravi, Please let me know when can we plan to go ahead with RTI filing.
School got most of things through donations like flooring, compound wall,
asbestos rooftop on veranda, etc. Some of the donars are Reddy's Foundation,
Naandi Foundation, An Engineer residing at Mehdipatnam, some of the employees
of IBM. IBM people wish to provide them a computer to improvise children's
education standards. This is really good idea to uplift children's interest
towards schools, reduce dropouts, improve their analysis capabilities. I have
read some article from Eenadu Sunday Special book regarding an IAS officer who
could make a big difference in Thandas school children by computerizing their
education. The govt scheme name is "Giri Pragna". He started it as an
experiment and it is now a successful scheme.
